Hot on the heels of the opening of the long-delayed Second Avenue Subway, New York City will soon offer mobile phone and Wi-Fi service at all subway stations in the city.
The installation of Wi-Fi service at all 279 subway stations was actually completed late last year. In a statement issued Thursday, the MTA said that subscribers of AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon Wireless will have full voice and data coverage at all underground stations starting January 9.
The project is actually a year ahead of schedule, which may in part make up for the close to 100-year delay in the completion of the first leg of the Second Avenue Subway, where service was inaugurated on January 1.
“By bringing Wi-Fi and cell service underground ahead of schedule, we are reimagining our subway stations to meet the needs of the next generation,” said Governor Andrew Cuomo in a statement.
per la verità in molte stazioni c’era, ma non in tutte.
e non in una città di una economia emergente.. a New York..
