Telecom Italia’s (TI +0.1%) board will this week take up options for its fixed-line network that could include a spin-off, Reuters reports.

Longtime pressures to address the network have gotten stronger with the growing dominant influence of Vivendi (VIVHY -0.4%), TI’s biggest shareholder — a push that has raised hackles within Italy’s government, which has exercised so-called golden power to protect what it considers strategic national assets.

CEO Amos Genish will outline his business plan to the board tomorrow, a plan that will include “various options for the future of the network, including a potential separation,” a source tells Reuters.
