Google is touting a new feature in TensorFlow, its develop toolkit for AI-powered applications, which keeps users’ personally-identifiable information from getting hoovered up by AI algorithms, according to this report from The Verge. This looks like a way for Google to build trust in AI and show consumers that it is focused on protecting their privacy. That’s an important part of ensuring that adoption of TensorFlow continues to grow at a healthy clip. The new feature also shows how Google is positioning TensorFlow for broader use, including in large companies. TensorFlow has helped Google cement its reputation as the top company for AI research, and even attract developers in China. Adding new features to answer questions about user data privacy are a way to keep the momentum going.
