BT Openreach on Monday announced plans to launch two fibre-to-the-cabinet (FTTC) pilots in summer 2009.
The scheme will see two exchanges, one in London and one in Glamorgan, South Wales, used to provide FTTC-based services to a total of 15,000 customer premises in each area.
The schemes will also follow Openreach's earlier tests at a new development in Kent, where in January it installed a fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) network to 10,000 homes and businesses
