Regulator AGCOM to reduce fees by 10% to bring rates in line with EU Commission's requests. Italy's telecommunication regulator Agcom Thursday gave the final approval for a planned 10% cut to the termination rates for Italian mobile operators by 2011.
Under the new tariffs plan, Italy will lower the 2011 rates to EUR0.053 for Telecom Italia's Tim, Vodafone Italia and Wind, from EUR0.0885 for the first two operators and EUR0.0951 for the third; and to EUR0.063 for H3G's 3 Italia from EUR0.13 currently.

The French regulator has proposed to allow the mobile operators SFR and Orange France to charge a termination rate of EUR0.03 a minute from July 1 2010. While the new entrant to the market, Bouygues is allowed to charge a slightly higher EUR0.04 a minute. ARCEP also said that in the long run it wants to bring the charges down to the actual costs of passing on the calls, which it estimates somewhere in between EUR0.01 and EUR0.02 a minute.
