Telecom Italia SpA and other phone operators in Italy should create a company to invest in the development of broadband in the country, Deputy Industry Minister Paolo Romani said. The venture should be open to partners such as Poste Italiane SpA, Italy’s postal service, and the country’s state railway Ferrovie dello Stato SpA, Romani said at a conference in Rome today. “The role of former incumbent Telecom Italia must be taken into account,” Romani said. “There is the need to open the (network investment) company to everyone._” This type of broadband investment structure might be tested in the northern Italian region of Trentino-Alto Adige, Telecom Italian Chief Executive Officer Franco Bernabe said
