China Telecom reported third-quarter EBITDA of CNY 21.89 billion, down from CNY 22.04 billion in the year-earlier period. Net profit came in at CNY 5.62 billion, up from CNY 5.44 billion a year ago, but this excludes impairment charges last year. Revenues edged up to CNY 44.95 billion from CNY 44.26 billion a year ago, excluding upfront connection fees. The weak results came amid a drop in the number of local access lines to 212.97 million at the end of September, versus 223.44 million a year ago.
